چکیده

This paper presents the derivation and performance results of several new three-dimensional topologies. Various transformations can be applied to the conventional six-neighbor mesh in order to construct these topologies, which vary both in number of neighbors (degree) and logical connectivity. Analysis shows that after normalization for constant pin-count, lower-degree topologies yield lower latencies for long messages on unloaded networks, while higher-degree topologies possess higher bandwidth capacities. Although simulation results generally verify these ndings, we also observe a surprising amount of diierence in the performance between distinct topologies of the same degree.

A topology control algorithm for autonomous underwater robots in three-dimensional space using PSO

Recently, data collection from seabed by means of underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSN) has attracted considerable attention. Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are increasingly used as UWSNs in underwater missions. Events and environmental parameters in underwater regions have a stochastic nature. The target area must be covered by sensors to observe and report events. A ‘topology cont...

Localized geometric topologies with bounded node degree for three-dimensional wireless sensor networks

Three-dimensional (3D) wireless sensor networks have attracted a lot of attention due to their great potential usages in both commercial and civilian applications, such as environmental data collection, pollution monitoring, space exploration, disaster prevention, and tactical surveillance. Topology control in 3D sensor networks has been studied recently, and different 3D geometric topologies w...

Optimal Coordination of Distance and Directional Overcurrent Relays Considering Different Network Topologies

Most studies in relay coordination have focused solely on coordination of overcurrent relays while distance relays are used as the main protection of transmission lines. Since, simultaneous coordination of these two types of relays can provide a better protection, in this paper, a new approach is proposed for simultaneous coordination of distance and directional overcurrent relays (D&DOCRs). Al...

Energy-efficient topology control for three-dimensional sensor networks

Topology control in sensor networks has been heavily studied recently. Different geometric topologies were proposed to be the underlying network topologies to achieve the sparseness of the communication networks or to guarantee the package delivery of specific routing methods. However, most of the proposed topology control algorithms were only applied to Two-Dimensional (2D) networks where all ...

Geographic Routing in 3D

Existing geographic routing algorithms assume a two-dimensional topology. Dedicated wireless sensor network scenarios demand for algorithms that operate in three-dimensional environments. This paper discusses issues which arise when making the step from 2D to 3D. Simulation studies show that 3D routing is less efficient than its 2D counterpart when comparing topologies with the same average nod...
